Corniglia

---

Corniglia is a little different from the other Cinque Terre villages: it has very few traditional hotels, with most accommodation being small guesthouses, B&Bs, and apartments.

Here are the places I’d put on your shortlist:

• AMARE IL MARE affittacamere - A particularly strong option for a polished, intimate stay. It currently has a 4.9/5 local rating and is right in Corniglia.
• ARBANELLA - One of the standout choices for sea views and balconies. Booking currently shows 9.2/10 from 500+ reviews, with guests particularly praising the views, location and hosts.
• il Magàn - Cinque Terre - A charming B&B in the center, with a 4.7/5 local rating. Good choice if you want something atmospheric rather than a conventional hotel.
• Affittacamere Le Terrazze - Great if you want terrace space and a quieter, authentic feel. Booking shows 9.0/10 from 400+ reviews.
• Corte Del Gallo - A small B&B near the station area, currently rated 4.3/5 locally.
• La Posada - A more affordable option with a 4.4/5 local rating; Booking reports 9.2/10 from 360+ reviews.

If I were narrowing it down

For romance/views: Arbanella
For a boutique/guesthouse feel: AMARE IL MARE
For authentic Corniglia atmosphere: il Magàn
For terrace + value: Le Terrazze
For lower-cost: La Posada

One important thing: Corniglia is perched high above the sea and is the least conventional of the five villages, so expect stairs and a quieter atmosphere rather than a full-service resort.

If you give me your dates, number of guests, and approximate budget per night, I can narrow this to the best 3 options with current prices/availability.

🏖️ Key Considerations

• Luxury & romance → Amare il Mare (higher price, boutique feel).
• Authentic local charm → Arbanella (small B&B, highly rated).
• Budget-friendly → La Posada or Affittacamere Le Terrazze.

⚠️ Things to Keep in Mind

• Corniglia is the quietest of the Cinque Terre villages: fewer hotels, more B&Bs and guesthouses.
• Accessibility: Corniglia sits on a cliff, requiring stairs or shuttle from the train station. La Posada offers a free shuttle, which is a big plus.
• Seasonal pricing: Rates rise sharply in summer (June–August). Booking early is essential.
• Atmosphere: Corniglia is ideal for travelers seeking peace and authenticity rather than nightlife.

✅ Recommendation

If you want romantic boutique charm, choose Arbanella. For luxury with panoramic views, Amare il Mare is the standout. Families or budget-conscious travelers will appreciate La Posada or Le Terrazze.

Would you like me to also highlight hidden agriturismi (farmhouse stays) near Corniglia that combine rustic charm with vineyard views?

Corniglia is the quietest and most authentic of the five Cinque Terre villages. Perched high on a cliff, it doesn’t have massive luxury resorts, but it features incredibly charming, locally run guesthouses (affittacamere) and boutique bed & breakfasts that offer phenomenal sea views.

Because Corniglia is sitting 100 meters above sea level, your choice of stay often comes down to balancing views against how many stairs you want to climb with luggage.

The curated shortlist highlights the top places to stay in Corniglia, categorized by style:

For Peace & Panoramic Views

Why choose it: This highly rated guesthouse feels like a quiet sanctuary right near the town center. Most of its six charming rooms offer spectacular views over the Ligurian Sea. It’s an ideal escape away from the daytime hiking crowds.

Why choose it: Offering a cliffside vantage point, this property gives you sweeping panoramas looking down the coast toward Manarola. A major perk of booking here is their on-site restaurant (frequently called a town favorite by visitors) and a rare, complimentary shuttle service to and from the train station to save your legs.

Top Boutique Hospitality & Breakfast

Why choose it: This beautifully decorated, family-run spot is widely praised as the perfect base for exploring the region. It stands out because it offers a great morning breakfast (many local spots are room-only) and features accessible options like wheelchair access. It sits right by the path where the downward trail to Vernazza begins.

Why choose it: Boasting near-perfect reviews, this cozy spot feels like a high-end local apartment. It is located right on the main village thoroughfare (Via Fieschi), meaning restaurants and tiny shops are literally right outside your door, and free breakfast is included.

For the Foodie & Solo Traveler

Why choose it: If you want traditional Ligurian seafood right below your room, this is your spot. It features a magnificent seasonal terrace overlooking the coast. It requires a bit of a trek up from the train station, but the peaceful ambiance and sunset balcony views make up for the effort.

Why choose it: A great value option that provides clean, modern rooms. The hosts are known for stocking the room's fridge with unexpected treats, making it feel very welcoming after a long day of hiking.

A Local Planning Tip: Remember that the Corniglia train station sits at the bottom of the cliff. To get into town, you either need to walk up the Lardarina (a staircase of 382 steps) or catch the small green National Park shuttle bus that meets every arriving train. If you have heavy bags, look into properties like La Posada that assist with transfers.

What dates are you looking to visit?

Is a sea-view balcony a must-have for you?

Are you traveling with heavy luggage ? (I can recommend spots with the fewest stairs!)

Corniglia (one of the five Cinque Terre villages in Italy) is small, quieter, and more elevated than the others, with limited true hotels—most options are guesthouses, B&Bs, or apartments. It has no large resorts; expect intimate, characterful stays with sea or village views. Book early, especially in peak season (summer), as options fill quickly. Note that access involves stairs (including the famous ~382-step Lardarina from the train station), so mobility can be a factor.

Top-rated options (based on recent Booking.com, TripAdvisor, and travel site ratings/reviews)

Here are some of the strongest contenders, frequently praised for cleanliness, hospitality, views, and location:

• Locanda Il Carugio — Often the standout “proper” hotel/B&B in Corniglia. Modern, well-appointed rooms (some with balconies), excellent breakfast (frequently called one of the best in the area, served on a terrace with sea views), garden/terrace, free private parking (rare here), and outstanding hosts (Gianpaolo, Giulia, and family). Ratings commonly 9.8–9.9/10 on Booking (hundreds of reviews). Quiet yet close to the village center and stairs to the station. Highly recommended for couples or those wanting comfort and service.

• Madüneta 5 Terre Guesthouse (also styled Maduneta/Daa Maduneta) — Frequently ranks #1 or near the top on TripAdvisor and other sites. Stylish rooms (many with private terraces and sea views), garden courtyard for breakfast, central location near the historic core and trails, and very welcoming owners/staff. Ratings around 9.4–9.6/10 (or 4.9/5 on TripAdvisor). Rooms inspired by local grape varieties; solid mid-range choice with good amenities.

• AMARE IL MARE Affittacamere e appartamenti — Excellent for couples or those seeking character and views. Themed rooms, private terraces/balconies with panoramic sea views (including toward Manarola), hot tub access in some cases, garden, free parking, and attentive host (Cinzia). Ratings typically 9.6/10 on Booking. Central, atmospheric, and highly praised for details and hospitality.

Other strong mentions

• Affittacamere Le Terrazze / Appartamenti Le Terrazze — Great for families or longer stays; terraces with views, local breakfast, central location. Solid mid-range ratings.
• Arbanella — Boutique-style guest house with sea/garden views, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi; often scores ~9.2/10.
• Affittacamere Arbasia De Ma (Terre Marine) — Simple, clean rooms with sea views; good mid-range option frequently recommended.
• Corte del Gallo — Near the station area; mixed but generally positive reviews for location and breakfast (ratings around 9.0).

Practical tips

• Price range: Expect roughly €150–300+ per night for doubles in high season (varies widely by dates, room type, and inclusions like breakfast). Luxury penthouses or larger apartments can cost more.
• What to prioritize: Sea views/terraces (sunrise/sunset are spectacular), proximity to the village center vs. station stairs, air conditioning (helpful in summer), and parking if arriving by car.
• Alternatives: Many excellent apartments/Airbnbs exist if you prefer self-catering. For more hotel-style or luxury options, consider nearby villages (e.g., La Torretta Lodge in Manarola) or day trips from Monterosso.
• Booking advice: Check current availability and reviews on Booking.com or TripAdvisor, as ratings and offerings can shift. Confirm details like breakfast, parking, and exact access (stairs are common).

Corniglia rewards those seeking authenticity and quieter evenings after the day-trip crowds leave. Enjoy the views and local food!

• Madüneta 5 Terre Guesthouse (highly rated, Tripadvisor top pick)
• Punto Zero (well-priced option with good reviews)
• The Poet Hotel (noted in multiple listings as a top choice)
